Diana L. Calla
“No client looks forward to litigation, but when litigation is necessary, clients look to their attorney to get the right result as painlessly as possible.”
An experienced courtroom advocate and health care law practitioner, Diana Calla understands that litigation is a collaborative as well as an adversarial process. She works seamlessly with clients, colleagues, and other key stakeholders and professionals to develop and implement efficient and effective strategies to achieve successful results. Across a wide range of contested matters, she brings fortitude, persuasiveness, and an ability to connect with judges and juries.
Diana has litigated matters involving numerous industries. She brings this perspective to bear on her work on complex health care litigation, which includes cases involving the False Claims Act, Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Statute, and related federal and state fraud and abuse matters. Her experience spans the entire case lifecycle through trial, encompassing motion practice, all aspects of pretrial discovery, taking and defending depositions, and collaborating with experts.
Cool under pressure, strategically creative, and resolute in her advocacy, Diana can distill medical and technical complexity into compelling, accessible arguments. She works with clients to minimize tangential disputes that waste resources, guiding her clients to concentrate instead on the issues that matter to advancing their interests and achieving a favorable resolution.
Raised in a health care family, Diana is passionate about helping providers serve their patients and making the law an asset rather than an impediment to those efforts. She is equally committed to serving her community and has maintained an active pro bono practice, primarily representing asylum seekers and survivors of domestic violence. She also serves on the board of Safer Rockridge, a California nonprofit focused on enhancing public safety and community engagement in the Rockridge neighborhood of Oakland.
