
In recognition of Minority Health Month, we honor Dr. Louis W. Sullivan (born 11/3/33), a physician, educator, and public health leader who has dedicated his career to advancing health equity.
Dr. Sullivan served as the 17th U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS), where he led national initiatives focused on disease prevention, nutrition, and improving minority health. He also founded and led the Morehouse School of Medicine, an institution committed to training physicians to serve underserved communities.
Throughout his career, Dr. Sullivan has been a strong advocate for increasing diversity in the health professions and addressing longstanding health disparities. His legacy continues to shape a more equitable and inclusive health care system.
