Eric Fish has spent a majority of his career at the intersection of regulation, policy, and innovation, where he helps clients across the health care ecosystem understand and navigate today’s complex compliance challenges while preparing them for the inevitable industry changes we face tomorrow.

Eric brings a unique blend of expertise and experience to his role, providing clients with regulatory and risk management counsel blended with his political savvy to assist in strategic messaging. Having served as general counsel for a large health care association, Eric knows the importance of providing clients with straight-forward, actionable, business-informed guidance. His experience as Chief Legal Officer of the Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB) and previous role as Chief Legal Counsel for the Uniform Law Commission provides a deep understanding of health care policy, medical licensing and credentialing, and the complex intersection of law, business, and federal and state policy that he has used to tackle issues across various legal disciplines.

Throughout his career, Eric has proactively addressed how emerging technologies and business models affect regulated industries, balancing the tension between traditional regulatory principles and innovation. He led groundbreaking initiatives such as the drafting of the Interstate Medical Licensing Compact and the development of FSMB’s guidance on the use and regulation of AI in clinical settings. He also collaborated with trade associations, hospital groups, and the private sector to reduce systemic inefficiencies in the licensing and credentialing process through the integration of digital identity principles and verifiable credentials.

Eric’s vision regarding how to regulate for the use of technology in health care, along with his collaborative nature has earned him a reputation as a thought-leader and a sought-after commentator on state and federal regulatory developments. As his clients adjust to the continued evolution of care delivery brought about by greater integration of AI and other digital technologies into care, Eric’s forward-looking and proactive approach allows them to be prepared for future disruptions and transformations to adjust their business accordingly.
