Health Law from Every Angle

“Health care law is a thorny and ever-evolving field requiring deep expertise and a commitment to staying ahead of emerging legal challenges. I enjoy forging a path through that uncertainty in a way that provides my clients with clarity and protects them from avoidable risk.”

With perspectives and insights shaped by executive and legislative branch experience, health care advocacy work, and a passion for helping providers do their jobs more effectively and efficiently, Kimia Khatibi counsels clients on a broad spectrum of regulatory and compliance matters.

Kimia deeply appreciates the critical importance of access to health care and the challenges providers and patients face amid a complex, constantly shifting legal, regulatory, and political landscape. She understands that the law can impede the delivery of care or be used to improve it, and she is committed to using her substantive knowledge and practical experience toward the latter. Her counsel balances a quick assessment and sober risk evaluation with creative solutions designed to encourage compliant innovation and instill confidence and clarity in her clients.

An abiding interest in health care law and policy defined her undergraduate and law school education and employment. While in law school, her work as a Senate Judiciary Committee Law Clerk and Legal Intern at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services exposed Kimia to the mechanics, pressures, and priorities involved in developing and implementing health care legislation and rulemaking.

Kimia subsequently served as an Equal Justice Works Fellow on the federal policy and advocacy team for a national reproductive rights legal organization. Her deep dives into regulatory minutiae and interactions with a wide range of stakeholders inform her current practice and enable her to identify effective avenues for achieving client objectives, allowing providers to focus on practicing medicine while she focuses on the legal environment that governs their work.
