HLB Welcomes Back Paul Deeringer as Partner in its San Francisco Office

We are pleased to announce that Paul Deeringer is rejoining the firm as a partner in its San Francisco office, effective July 13.
Many at the firm know Paul from his earlier tenure as an associate in the Business Department. Since leaving HLB in 2012 to join John Muir Health’s in-house team as Associate General Counsel, Paul went on to serve as the health system’s Senior Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer. In these roles, he built deep legal, executive and business experience across the acute care and physician organization spaces.
“Paul’s return brings the firm a rare combination of legal skill and in-house executive perspective,” said Mark E. Reagan, Managing Shareholder. “Having sat on the client side as both general counsel and chief strategy officer, he understands the pressures our clients face from the inside. That perspective, paired with the relationships he’s built across the acute care and physician organization spaces, makes him an incredible asset to the firm.”
Based in San Francisco, Paul will focus on leveraging his relationships to grow the firm’s business, while collaborating across practice groups on complex business, regulatory, and strategic matters facing health care providers.
“I’ve watched HLB’s practice grow from the outside for over a decade, and I’m thrilled to be back,” said Deeringer. “Having worked in-house, I know firsthand what health systems and physician organizations need from outside counsel, not just legal analysis, but practical, business-minded guidance. I’m looking forward to bringing that perspective to clients here.”
HLB looks forward to this new chapter with Paul back on the team.
