Karl Schmitz and Robert Miller Featured in Los Angeles Business Journal Healthcare Roundtable
Karl A. Schmitz and Robert F. Miller, Co-Chairs of HLB’s Business Department, were recently featured as panelists in the Los Angeles Business Journal’s Healthcare Roundtable, published July 20, 2026.
The roundtable brought together health care executives and legal leaders including representatives from UCLA Health, City of Hope, Emanate Health, and the ALS Network to discuss the most pressing issues facing the health care industry today, including the impact of artificial intelligence, evolving reimbursement models, the shifting legal and regulatory environment, and the future of value-based care.
As part of the discussion, Karl addressed the growing complexity of the legal landscape for health care organizations, the financial pressures facing Medi-Cal providers in Los Angeles County, and the firm’s strategic focus on health care law as a distinct advantage for clients navigating emerging technologies.
